New addition to the family and almost done!!!

We've added to the menagerie! Here's my new budgie! Apparently only us Americans call them parakeets. One of my daughters has been wanting one and after doing all kinds of reading and watching You Tube I decided I had to have one too! :D Sam's is white with muted markings. I haven't decided on a name yet, I'm thinking of: Ringo, Sweety, Peepers, Sunny. Tweety, Doc or Tim if Tim Holtz pics my name in one of his Twelve Tags of Christmas giveaways! I'd love to have some of his stamps! And I'd be busy using his techniques but I have to get this quilt done!!!! I'm almost there.... I sewed all the squares together and sewed on the border and it's all pinned. Now I just have to quilt it. I really wish I had a short arm quilter right now. Nothing like trying to stuff this through a regular sewing machine.... I like the quilt though. I think it turned out pretty cool! What do you think?
Hopefully you're not having the freezing temps that we've been having! I got up the other morning and it was -7!!!! BRRRRRRRRRRR!!! Have I mentioned yet how much I hate winter?
Thanks for stopping by and feel free to leave me a comment! It's always nice to know that someone besides me is actually reading this....

Woohoo!!!!!!!!

The 56 squares are done!!! I have been quilting like mad trying to finish one daughters' quilt. Yesterday I sewed up 12 squares, almost all of them purple! I have a lot of purple fabric! Obviously purple is my favorite color, my Yahoo ID is purplepaint. :D I have the squares done, now I just need to lay them out and decide what order to sew them in, then cut and sew on the border, then piece that back and put it all together!!! It will be so nice when it's finished! It's a wonderful feeling taking pieces of fabric and making a quilt that will hopefully be cherished for many years to come...
I thought I'd share some photos of lace that are just part of my stash. I may have to list some of it in my Etsy shop, I just have so much!!!
Today I'm hoping to lay out the batting and quilt pieces and see what I need to do to finish up this fan quilt. I doubt if I'll have it done today. Maybe over the weekend... I'm really getting into quilting, which is a good thing as I have two more kids to make them for.
Thanks so much for stopping by and have an awesome day!!!

Funky chunky charm bracelet!

I just listed this funky, chunky charm bracelet in my Etsy shop:
This one has lots of fun charms on it! Glass beads, a bone bead, a chunk of amethyst, a faux Chinese coin, a flattened good luck penny, a dice, shoe, glass fish and vintage and new measuring sticks! Show your artistic side and wear this out for the evening!
I'm hoping to get more of these made and listed before Christmas - can you believe it's less than a month away?!!!
I hope everyone had an awesome Thanksgiving! We went to Kansas to my mom's, I'll be posting some pics.
Thanks so much for stopping by and have an awesome weekend!!!

My books finally came!!!

I just love getting a new book order!!! After months of trying to rejoin a certain book club I finally got my order today!!! So many new things to try. I curled up on the couch and dove in, crochet hook and yarn in hand! I jumped right in with the crochet book "300 Classic Blocks for Crochet Projects." My block is not perfect but close. I need to consult with my mom on the directions, she is a master at crochet! She crocheted all of us kids a tablecloth. It's gorgeous!!! I would love to have it on my table but I have 3 cats so I don't dare.
And there's a sewing book for easy little gifts, a card making book, Joanna Sheen's I think, and a mechanical card making book! And then I went through the catalogue they sent and there are tons of books I want to order! I know, I'm a book-aholic! I'd love to work in a library! No wonder I have a hard time staying focused! :D
I'll keep you posted on what all I make!
Thanks so much for stopping by and have an awesome week! And if I don't post before then, have a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving to all my American readers.

Crazy quilt mini quilts!

I have been on a fabric kick!!! I took a break from the fan quilt and made a few more mini crazy quilts. These are 3" x 4" and I'll be listing them in my Etsy shop. I think a collection of these framed would look really cool!

I took a break from the fabric yesterday, I'm working on some funky, chunky charm bracelets, so I'll be posting some pics of that.

Here's a pic of some more of the fan blocks. I decided to do a few in black and white. I may leave them out, I'll have to lay it out and see how it looks. The black and white may not look too good and may become pillows or something....

Thanks so much for stopping by and have an awesome day!

More fabric mini quilts

I'm really getting into the fabric and lace!!!! Such fun to actually use your stash!!! I just listed both of these on Etsy, they're ACEO (artist card edition originals) and measure 2 1/2" x 3 1/2". I still haven't made a dent in my lace... I have oodles of it. Maybe I'll list some of it in my Etsy shop.... Can you believe Christmas is only 36 days away?!!!!!!!!!

This week I have been sewing up a storm, working on the fan quilt for my daughter. I think I have 36 squares done, I need 56 all together, so 20 more to go. It would be nice if I could get it done for Christmas! I'm cutting the pieces for the 2nd fan quilt as I cut for this one. That should make that one go a little faster. Then I'll be a doing a big square quilt of some kind for my son....

Thanks so much for stopping by and have an awesome day!!!

My most recent watercolor quilt

Remember a few weeks ago I showed you the bottom of my most recent watercolor quilt? Well my mom got it and so now I can show you the whole thing.

I forgot to have someone hold it up for me to take a photo so it's draped over the couch. I had to crop and resize to get Blogger to put it on here right side up... I am so glad to be done with this! And all the needle tracks from the previous 3 times of sewing it up and ripping it out disappeared when I put it in the wash, that's good to know. I don't know if you remember, but the final quilting was done by hand. My fingers were feeling like pincushions!!! I'm definitely going to have to figure out how to get my machine to do the free motion or get another machine, I'm not doing that by hand again. Anyway I think it turned out really cool...

I've also been working on the fan quilt for daughter, trying to get that done ~ I need 56 squares and have 30. Well, unless I decide to put a bigger border on it...

Anyway, thanks so much for stopping by and have an awesome week!!!
