Fabric ATC

This is a fabric atc that I just made up for trade on fabric atcs one to one. I've been wanting to do some crazy quilting with embroidery so this is a good warm up.

I was out digging up sod this morning to put in my garden, I am so sore! I should have gotten it done sooner so I would already have my lettuce planted. Oh well. Now to turn over the good dirt sitting on top and bring in loads more top soil...... that should help me get in shape!

Hope you're all having a great weekend!

She would have loved fuchsia.....

I finally got something artistic done yesterday! This postcard just came about, I had no ideas ahead of time, just that I wanted to crazy quilt it. I started with the black and white and put in some bright pink embroidery and then the picture, and thought, this lady would have loved the color fuchsia. I don't suppose they had really bright colors back then, or if they did that proper ladies wore those colors......

Have a great day!

Snow?????????

This is a photo of a Hibiscus flower on a plant in my front window. This was supposed to be a red Hibiscus flower but oh well. I wonder if I can pollinate it with some roses or something and change the color? I know the bees have done that with my flowers outside.......

I almost had a cow when I heard the weather last night - 1 to 3" of snow last night and today! There was no snow when I got up, it was 37 degrees, but it is spitting now. I don't remember ever having snow this late in the year and I've lived here for over 20 years, although some people seem to remember it.... Are they exaggerating or is Alzheimer's setting in? :)

I feel bad I have nothing artsy to show you! I haven't had time to do anything creative for several days! I'll have to get busy.........

Happy Mother's Day!

Just whipped this up for my mom for Mother's Day. Now to send it and hope she gets it Saturday. :O I knew it was coming but I got a little sidetracked.... Yes, that's a picture of me when I was little, I look like a little rag-a-muffin but I love that picture.

For all you other mom's I hope you have a wonderful Mother's Day and get to art a lot and don't have to cook!

More string quilt ATCs

Just whipped up 2 more atcs from cuttings on my string quilts. I did 4 squares for my string quilt yesterday. They're so easy to do!

Leftover string quilt ATC

I was making string quilt squares today and had some pieces from trimming them down so I had to make an ATC from them. I think this is kind of cool! I'm really liking sewing the string quilt squares and using a lot of fabric scraps that I need to get rid of....

Just discoverd string quilts!

I just discovered string quilts yesterday and jumped in head first! They look so simple and thought this would be fun to do! This is my first block. I had to cut it down to 8" x 8" since I messed up the corners. I'm just using scraps right now but need to cut up some of my stash too! This is a blast after doing watercolor quilts with all the rules! I needed a break and something quick and easy. As far as I know the only rule is to start the first strip in the middle and diagonally.

Have a great day!

Thank you!

I just wanted to say Thank You for all your wonderful comments and support on my artwork, photos and fabric creations. It's so much fun to share with you and get feedback, and to get to know all of you through your blogs.

Another jewelry piece

This is a copper pin I just finished for the Bead on a Wire workshop. I'm not too thrilled with it, it turned out a lot bigger than I would probably wear and I like working with sterling silver much better. Only 4 more lessons to do and we're done.

I'm thinking of making up a bunch of crazy quilt squares to embroider. I love doing crazy quilting and haven't done any embroidery for quite awhile, it's really hard on my hands, makes my carpal tunnel and arthritis kick up. Sounds like I'm 80 years old! LOL!

Hope you're all having a wonderful weekend.

My first fabric cone

This is my first fabric cone. We're doing these for a swap on Cloth Paper Studio, they were featured in Quilting Arts Gifts at the end of last year. This was a lot of fun to do!!! I got to play with fabric and paper! Excuse my hands and fingers in the pictures, it's really windy out so I had to hold it still. Hope this is what they had in mind....... Have a great weekend!

Snow on May 1st

It's snowing today, May 1st!!!!!!! If this keeps up the kids might have that snow day they've been waiting for all year. Granted, it would have to snow 10" -12" or more to get a snow day but maybe.......... Actually I shouldn't complain at all, we really need the moisture, we've been having a lot of wildfires already and this will definitely help with those! I guess God knows what he's doing, and he does have a sense of humor. I'll post more later if it keeps snowing. :)

Another bracelet

I finally finished it! I had to oxidize it and then polish it up. Oh yeah, that was after I had to change all the jump rings to smaller ones because it was too big. But I still had fun with it. I really like working with 16 gauge wire, and dead soft is so much easier to work with than half hard.
Now on to lesson 11. I guess we're doing 15 lessons so we're almost done. I'm still behind but I will catch up eventually. :)

New Fabric ATCS

These are 2 fabric ATCs I just finished this afternoon for a trade with Judi who sent me a gorgeous purple fabric atc! Thank you Judi, I love it!
I'm getting ready to put in a small vegetable garden, but it was too cold to work on it today. The wind was freezing and we even had a few flurries!
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Black and white fabric page

Just finished these pages for one of my groups. The color was black and white and I had a really hard time with this! I kept wanting to add some yellow, or red or hot pink. I really like how this came out though. And I just happened to have 2 black ribbon roses from treasure hunting...... I'm keeping one of these and one goes to swap. Leave me a comment and let me know what you think. :)

They found him in the garden......

I just finished this fabric postcard this morning. This is for trade in one of my Yahoo groups. I just love this little guy, I bought the cabinet card awhile back and the egg is from one of my collage sheets, and they're printed on fabric. The wings are from some fabric I just bought. Oh, and the poem I made up as I was sewing up the postcard. I need to make a copy for me and I think I'll do a quiltie with this theme and put it in my Etsy shop. I just love playing with images printed onto muslin!

Treasure Hunting

I went Treasure Hunting this morning and found this wonderful bird print by Arnold Singer, too new to make copies of but it's so beautiful it's hanging on my wall. I've really gotten into bird watching since I've been using so many bird images in my art. The other picture is of some wonderful old treasures: an old train case, a clothespin bag with the old clothespins (I'm thinking of making something out of the bag), old Monopoly and Parcheesi games, an old apron, beaded purse, several tins, an old cheese box filled with old marbles, old sheet music and hankies........ It was a very good morning!

This IS April 17th, right???

Okay, I know we need the moisture with the wildfires and all, but does it have to come in the form of snow???????
It started snowing yesterday and we have 4"-6" of the white stuff. Should melt right off, but it's such a drag after having a gorgeous day Tuesday with the temps in the 70s! I think we're all really burnt out on snow! Oh well, such is life in Colorado.

My cha-cha bracelet!

I just finished this last night and for some reason I've titled it my cha-cha bracelet, perhaps because it has lots of movement with the dangles. I'm in a spring mood so I chose spring green glass and light green pearls. I made all the links in this piece. It was a lot of fun, took a while to do and I had to wait for another order of wire to come in. Now it's time to move on to the next lesson. I think we're almost done with this workshop. It has been fun, although expensive, but I really prefer to work with Sterling Silver, I know how it behaves..............

Heart shapes abound.......

This is one of my collection of heart rocks. I'm a rock hunter from way back, but in 1997 I started noticing all these heart shaped rocks and collecting them! Then I started noticing heart shapes in other things......... I'll have to continue with this and see what else I can find, I know I have several plants with heart shaped leaves.........

We'll always have Paris......

This is my arch for Gothic Art Challenge:
http://gothicarches.wordpress.com/

The theme is "We'll always have Paris". I was in a blah mood yesterday and saw Nancy's blog and that the challenge was Paris, well who can resist Paris?! I've always wanted to go to Paris and hope to do that some day..... I may have to do some more of these, the size is fun to work with. I don't actually know if there is a set size, I just made my own template... Guess I should check that out.

After I finish some mundane errands this morning I'll be back to twisting wire... Have a wonderfully creative day!
